Individuals requesting DMH-funded services have to reside in the service area. They also are assessed clinically and financially -- clinically to determine if thy meet target population criteria and financially to determine insurance coverage and income. A standard means test is applied to determine if a co-payment for services should be assessed. State statute requires the application of a standard means test.
For individuals that meet DMH service admission criteria, a weekly meeting is held with supervisory staff to determine the type and intensity of services provided. Intensity is determined by Level of Care Utilization System (LOCUS) and Child and Adolescent Level of Utilization System (CA-LOCUS) developed by the American Association of Community Psychiatrists.
An individual's level of care will determine the intensity of services and how often progress toward treatment goals is formally reviewed. Individuals receiving DMH-funded services are required to have their finances reassessed annually. |
