The Department of Mental Health (DMH) funds community psychiatric services by service areas. There are 25 service areas. In each service area there is one agency contracted with DMH's Division of Comprehensive Psychiatric Services to provide services. These agencies are Administrative Agents and provide:
- Primary entry and exit point for state mental health funded services
- Receive for screening and evaluation -- as an outpatient -- any person living in the service area
- Necessary and appropriate case management services
- 24/7 crisis services
- Medication services and administration
Individuals to receive DMH-funded services include:
- Adults with serious and persistent mental illness
- Children with serious emotional disturbances
- Those with acute psychiatric distress
- Forensic persons that have been court-committed to DMH
Greater St. Louis Area Served
- The North and South Sites provide services to Service Area 23 -- St. Louis County
- The Central Site provides services to Service Area 25 -- central and southern half of St. Louis County
Services are provided directly by contract psychiatrists, therapists and other providers.
Farmington Area Serviced
- The Southeast Site is responsible for Service Area 17:
- Iron County
- St. Francois County
- Washington County
- Pathways is the Administrative Agent for the other counties in Service Area 17
